Want to make a living while saving the world? Here are the Top 5 Job Sites dedicated to social change.
5. Nonprofit Jobs Cooperative
This job site is a clearing house for jobs from several regional non-profit job centers. Striped down for ease of use, there’s nothing here but job listings which makes it easy to scan.
Example Job Post: Assistant Development Director / Special Events Manager for an abused woman’s shelter
4. Opportunity Knocks
This one looks like your traditional job site but it’s dedicated only to non-profits. You can search by category such as Social Work, Animals, and Civil Rights or by function (again customized to suit non-profits.) Join the site and you can store your resume and cover letter and track your job leads. There are no articles here, just job listings for those who want to get in and get it done.
Example Job Post: Environmental Fellowship: Advocate for Cleaner Energy Policies
3. Philanthropy Careers
This site is part of The Chronicle of Philanthropy: The Newspaper of the Non-Profit World. The emphasis here is on fundraising jobs but there are also a number of administrative and executive positions listed. They have an article archive devoted to job hunting and hiring in this economy and they tell it like it is. This is the real world talking, so listen up.

2. Idealist.org
Not just a job site, Idealist is a networking system connecting people with skills to the non-profits who need them. There’s an extensive filter for the job opportunities, but they seem to be stronger in the area of internships, including ones that pay.
The site has a forum, podcasts and a blog which covers a variety of subjects related to non-profits (and some that weren’t related at all.) Check out the Career Corner for articles specifically related to getting a job at a non-profit.

1. Jobs For Change
This well put-together site offers job listings in a variety of categories including political, green and social enterprise. Job listings can be filtered by experience required, type of position or cause. The site also has a blog that covers search strategies, resumes, interview techniques, along with articles that speak directly to jobs in this niche.
