Google Gives Back with Free Airport WiFi
Mon. 23 2009 | Cynthia
If you’re traveling by air this holiday season, Google has a gift for you and they hope you’ll use it to help them give back. Google is offering free WiFi service at 47 airports and on every Virgin Atlantic flight through the holidays. You won’t find any of the big boys on the list, such as LAX or Chicago, but you will find Las Vegas, San Diego, Fort Lauderdale and many more. (Click here for the complete list)
Once you connect from a free WiFi location, Google will ask you to use Google Checkout to make a donation to one of three non-profits; One Economy Corporation, Climate Savers Computing or Engineers Without Borders USA. For every donation made, Google will match the funds up to $250,000. Now that’s a nice way to spread the holiday cheer.
While you’re on the site, Google is also running a holiday photo contest to answer the question How Does Technology Help You Stay Connected. The winner will recieve ten round-trip tickets on Virgin America, a Droid smartphone and other techie prizes.
