Inception Premiere Sells Tickets for Charity

Inception, written/directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, and Joseph Gordon Levitt (among many, many others) had its Hollywood premiere the evening of Tuesday, July 13. The movie was shown at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, and it was a glamorous, star-studded event followed by an after-party where Hans Zimmer and Johnny Marr (of The Smiths) played selections from the score live.
It was a typical glamorous Hollywood event, with one exception. Proceeds from tickets sold to the premiere went to benefit the Alliance for Climate Protection, founded in 2006 by former Vice President / Nobel Laureate Al Gore to educate the public about climate change and promote solutions to this global crisis. Their programs include Repower America, The Climate Project, and the WE Campaign.
Like former Vice President Gore, Leonardo DiCaprio has long been involved in promoting climate change awareness and the green movement, including co-producing and narrating 2007 documentary The 11th Hour, so it comes as no surprise that he would be involved with an event like this.
